It is not allowed to wear plain clothes and go to Gabhara to perform puja during Bhasmarati. Admission to the gabhar is only after wearing a silk garment for men and a saree for women. Only men participate in the main aarti. Women are not allowed to enter at this time. Devotees can enjoy this bhasmarati in the Nandi Hall built outside the gabhar.
